[DLK] AEEC DLK Systems Subcommittee / 2024 General Session Report / RF Interference at Airport Gates

Dear Data Link Communications experts,



I hope you are all doing well when this transmittal is received.



As you may know, the 2024 AEEC General Session will be held May 20-22, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona. You are all invited.



The format of how the different Subcommittees report their activities will be different this year. The goal is to have more discussions and partaker participation.



The Data Link Session (DLK/DLUF/AGCS (L-Band satcom)/AOC) will take place during the morning of Tuesday, May 21st.



During the DLK Session, the nuisance VDL RF airport gate Interference issue, will be presented to the AEEC Executive Committee and to the meeting attendees. The intent will be to obtain guidance from the Executive Committee to identify a path forward to resolve the RF interference.



In order to provide the complete scope of the issue, detailing the mitigation actions considered, the attached survey was recently sent to the VHF Data Radio manufactures.



The survey requests information on the complexity of implementing three mitigating options. The results of the survey will be shared with the Executive Committee.

Notes:  During the Air-Ground Communications System (AGCS) Subcommittee Report, the following L-Band Satcom Standards will be considered for adoption:

  *   Draft 1 of Supplement 3 to ARINC Characteristic 771: Low-Earth Orbiting Aviation Satellite Communication System
  *   Draft 3 of Supplement 9 to ARINC Characteristic 781: Mark 3 Aviation Satellite Communication Systems
