Well put Josh.  That is correct.
FSI and TRU S+T are still two separate entities that are flight training manufacturers.
The new Joint Venture has been named as FlightSafety Textron Aviation Training.  This is a new company which will provide the training and services for the Textron Aviation business/commercial and general aviation aircraft.

Jeremy,

FlightSafety and TRU are not merging.  FlightSafety and TRU Simulation + Training are creating a Joint Venture to provide pilot training for Textron Aviation's product line of business and general aviation aircraft.  FlightSafety and TRU will combine some assets and capabilities into this JV, but it is not a complete merger.  FlightSafety and TRU will continue to operate outside of the JV as individual organizations on products beyond the Textron lines.  In the JV, TRU will serve as the exclusive supplier of new Textron Aviation simulators.  TRU and FlightSafety will both continue our other operations, including the design and manufacture of training simulators providing training solutionsfo the global aviation industry and government/military customers.

I hope this helps to clear up any misunderstanding.  I cannot speak for TRU, but FlightSafety is not anticipating any change in our participation at FSEMC.

The quick answer is no.  Per section 2.3.2 of the Operation and Procedure Guide.... If that FMO is no longer in a position to maintain its membership, the FSEMC Chairman will appoint an equivalent FMO fill the unexpired term.

Additionally in the last two years no other FSEMC Member Organization (FMO) has volunteered to stand for election for a steering position.

I agree, ACCEL has really stepped up in the past 2 years.  Do we alienate anyone else in the membership by appointing them rather than having them stand for election in October?  We don't want to push anyone away either.

For those of you who attended the meeting in Beijing, and for those of you who will read about it in the meeting minutes, Boeing has confirmed their intent not to renew their FSEMC membership and, as such, has relinquished their position on the steering committee.



This creates a vacancy on the steering committee which, under the FSEMC operating procedures, can be filled for the duration of the vacated term through appointment by the steering committee Chairman.



In consideration of our desire to expand our FSEMC initiatives in the China and Asia Pacific region, and in recognition of how difficult conducting business in this part of the world can be without having a physical presence in that region, I offer for your consideration the appointment of ACCEL Flight Simulation, Tianjin, China to the position vacated by Boeing.  In a short period of time, ACCEL has become a member, presenter and strong supporter of FSEMC, and their influence in the region and with the CAAC, I believe, will be of great benefit to our organization.  ACCEL would be represented on the steering committee by Dr. Ding Yuanyuan (aka Martin).



Please let me know if there are any strong objections to this appointment, otherwise, Sam will proceed with the formalities of filling the position as described.
