[FSEMC] SCQ and FDD Working Group

Hello All:

Attached are two meeting announcements for upcoming FSEMC Working Groups that will be held in Cologne, Germany.  The first meeting, March 27-28 (Monday Tuesday) is the Simulator Continuing Qualification (SCQ) Working Group.  The second meeting is FSEMC Data Document (FDD) Working group.  This meeting will be held the following two days 29-30 March.

SCQ

The intent of the SCQ is to initiate discussion to alternative means of continuing qualification and validation of FSTD's- and share and promote new ideas and ways of optimizing regular testing and checking methods.  We invite your organization to participate in this "idea generation" activity to ensure we consider ideas from across the industry.

The first working group meeting delved into improving recurrent qualification evaluations outside of the QTG processes. From the meeting, the group discussions resulted in several points. The industry could benefit from developing:

*         The activity will produce a standard or set of guidance for an alternate means of compliance for the continuing evaluation of FSTDs.

*         Guidance Material for Configuration Control for Software (Simulator Systems).

*         Recommendations for recurrent qualification testing methodologies



FDD


The FSEMC obtained the copyrights and material for the IATA Data Document in September 2016, titled ARINC Specification 450: Flight Simulator Design and Performance Data Requirements, which is on the ARINC Store for purchase.

The FDD Working Group identified a number of areas of improvement for the existing data document. The FDD Working Group is dedicated to the development and updates to the FSEMC Data Document.

The scope of this project is to define the content and depth of data required to build, test, and qualify a training device of adequate fidelity to meet flight crew training prerequisites. The resulting evolutions of the document will strengthen the guidance applicable to next generation aircraft, as well as assisting training device operators in maintenance and engineering of existing devices.

The industry as a whole will benefit, including major stakeholders such as:

* Airlines
* Training device operators
* Training device manufacturers
* Aircraft manufacturers
* Regulatory authorities
*Data suppliers and equipment vendors

While this list is not all-inclusive, the standard will define the depth and breadth of the data required to maintain an FSTD of any level. For example:
To ensure the success of this project, it is critical to receive training device operator support. Intensive discussion, drafting, and editing occur at the working group meetings. Alternately, the working group welcomes document reviews and written feedback from all who wish to shape the future of the flight simulation training industry.
