Hello Network Infrastructure and Security Specialists,

I hope this email finds you well. I am reaching out on behalf of the Network Infrastructure and Security (NIS) Subcommittee. The intent of this message is to provide you with an opportunity to read the draft APIM proposal submitted by Airbus (draftApimA842DigitalCertification.docx) and provide feedback. I have included a supporting presentation, also provided by Airbus, to help with any questions.

As a summary:

  * Problem Statement: Current standard for certificate management calls for one FLS per aircraft to update the certificates. This exercise is performed every 1 to 3 years. There are additional issues seen as a result of the difficulty. There are solutions in the work that could/would benefit from industry participation and standard approach.
  * Proposal: Update ARINC Report 842: Guidance for Usage of Digital Certificates to include such technology possibilities as Online Certificate Provisioning. It is intended to ensure appropriate security levels, allow for streamlined certificate management to be documented in the existing

The NIS Subcommittee is specifically looking for feedback on the proposed activity and organizations that are in support of the proposed future work as well as supporting the effort. An initial response would be appreciated if possible by Thursday, January 28, 2021, End of Day. If a discussion is needed, a teleconference can be scheduled for a future date.

Best regards,
Vanessa
