Subject: A702-A5 Drafts for Discussion on the 17th

Paul,

Please find an initial set of A702-A5 white papers for review and discussion on the Webex on the 17th of December. Thanks to Sam and CMC for providing most of the proposed drafts. I have also provided some material for AT/ABOVE speed constraints, but it is not in the same format as the other ones. It intentionally asks a series of questions (and also the GE recommendations) in order to provoke discussion and try and gain consensus around a concept of operation. Once we have a general concept of operation, I will draft the appropriate should/shall statements and commentary that will be inserted into the larger A702 document.

I have also provided an updated agenda based on what I think is important to discuss/review on the 17th. Please review it and feel free to modify it if necessary.

Finally, please forward these materials to the appropriate persons. Once we confirm the interested parties to this effort, we should encourage everyone to sign up for the FMS distribution list and limit our distribution to the people on that list.

Thanks in advance,

  Mike

Subject: Another option on RNP AR

Mike,

Russ has a good point and the crew should be able to select the RNP value they want for the approach prior to getting there. That might include when they are briefing the procedure. The ability to specify the RNP value for the respective approach would be nice and have that RNP value come up when sequencing onto approach. However, I am wondering if that would be a manufacturer's option as opposed to an industry standard. We working on multiple lines of minima for the MASPS and did not get very far. This topic came up but I do not recall how far the discussion went. Just for thought, I added a couple of very small wording changes in the commentary to give the manufacturer a hint.

I have also attached four proposals for the groups considerations (including the RNP value). We need to get these out to the group quickly so that we will have something to discuss next week. If you have any to add, feel free. Your suggestion to include a comment sheet is good, but I am wondering if there is enough time to get them back prior to the telecon. We may just want to go through these as models to stimulate others, as well as try to get others to commit to writing. Should you want to send these out to the group, feel free, or send to Paul for distribution. His distribution list is very large but will catch those who were on the initial phone and who will most likely participate.

Cheers,

Sam Miller
