Dear SAI Subcommittee participant:

Boeing has proposed that the AEEC Executive Committee take action to prepare two new ARINC Standards as follows:

APIM 17-004: Autonomous Distress Tracking (ADT)

APIM 17-005: Timely Recovery of Flight Data (TRFD)

Due to the widespread interest in these topics, "Global Aircraft Tracking" will be the featured symposium at the AEEC General Session and Avionics Maintenance Conference - May 1, 2017 in Milwaukee. Airbus, Aireon, Boeing and Inmarsat have been invited to speak in this symposium. The SAI Subcommittee chairman Bob Semar will introduce the APIMs for approval on May 3 in Milwaukee.

Briefing slides from today's web conference and a strawman requirements documents is attached for your consideration.

Charles (Chuck) Adler of Boeing has volunteered to lead the Global Aircraft Tracking Working Group, pending approval of the AEEC Executive Committee in Milwaukee.

Best regards,
Paul
