Subject: ARINC 849 Shop Loading document (Again; fixed some email addresses)
Greetings SDL'ers,
Attached is chapters 1-5 of the ARINC 849: Software Loading in the Shop Environment
I have gone through and cleaned up chapters 1 thru 5 for readability and clarity, which meant rewriting (and re-thinking) most of their content.
These chapters should be much easier to read now, and give a clear objective overview and goal for loading software in the shop environment.
Hopefully, this will avail the remainder of the document which will be easier understand. Please read and assess.
I have been working on the document daily trying to get it ready for review.
The remaining chapters 6-10 should go quicker, but I want to have them as clean and accurate as possible before review.
As I stated before, the current draft was still in a brainstorming rough draft and very difficult to read. It had been on the "back burner" due to other obligations. However, I feel that the document now coming together into a comprehensive structure.
I will setup a web conferences this Friday Feb 10 at 11:00 EST
and Friday Feb 17 at 11:00 EST
The webcon information will be in separate emails.
First time using our webcon, so wish me luck.
We can discuss the chapters that have had a reasonable first pass cleaning.
As I complete each chapter, I will distribute it for everyone's reading pleasure.
Thanks,
Ted Patmore

Subject: ARINC 849 Shop Loading document
Greetings ARINC SDL WG,
I have been doing some heavy editing on the ARINC 849 Shop Loading document.
After reading through the draft as it was at the last meeting, I found several problems.
This draft was in worse shape than I thought (my fault). Only since the end of another project last Wednesday have I applied priority time to this project (other than during the time of its first inception).
Much of the text was left in the brainstorming state. There were inconsistencies and duplicated information.
Some terms were overloaded, such as shop level/aircraft level, which is now shop environment/aircraft environment.
The Component Software Load Level (CSLL) definitions are now summarized as in Table 3.x below. I am working to make all text consistent with table.
Fixing other things. Deleting duplicate text. Arranging to be in logical order. Also proof reading to make everything more understandable.
My hope was to have 2 web conferences before the meeting in Portland. Time is getting short however, so I am working overtime every day to get this ready. As I go along, I will distribute clean chapters, then the entire document some days before a web conference where we can do a full review before the meeting, depending on how many other issues and how fast this goes.
The goal is to finish this in Portland for adoption in April. I will do my best to make it good in time.
Table 3.x Component Software Load Levels 1, 2, & 3.
