[IPS_Aero] FW: AEEC IPS Meeting 17 Follow-up

Dear IPS Subcommittee Participant,

This week the IPS Subcommittee reached several significant milestones in the development of ATN/IPS. The IPS Subcommittee has reached consensus on the overall content of ARINC Project Paper 858, both Part 1 and Part 2. It also set in motion an activity with AEEC's Ku/Ka-Band Satcom Subcommittee to apply IPS standards to communication data links that are traditionally used for non-safety services, starting with Ku/Ka-Band Satcom. Supplements to the ARINC 658 Roadmap and ARINC 858 Technical Standards are being planned for development in 2021-2022.

Your continued participation and contribution will be the key to preparing these industry standards for this emerging aviation infrastructure.

  *   Mike Olive has agreed to continue his role as Industry Editor for ARINC 858 Supplement 1.
  *   Luc Emberger has agreed to be the Industry Editor of ARINC 658 Supplement 1 Roadmap.
  *   Please consider contributing your time and talent as a Section Editor. Topics and tasks are identified in the Excel Spreadsheets attached.

The attached PDF contains the PP858 overview/status slides presented during the meeting.  The attached Excel file contains an update to the consolidated comments showing resolutions (see Column O) discussed during the meeting.  (Note: An "Ed." In Column O identifies where minor changes were accepted during the editorial process to reduce document clutter and streamline review during the meeting.)
In addition, the second Excel file contains the Supplement 1 Action Item list, including updates resulting from the document discussions and the Gap Analysis discussion this week.  As noted during the meeting there are three tabs:
*         A858P1_s1 - actions for Part 1, Supp.1
*         A858P2_s1 - actions for Part 2, Supp.1
*         PP858d2-d3 - historical actions for PP858d2 and PP858d3 (no open actions remaining)
ACTION: AEEC IPS participants who have an interest in leading or contributing to particular actions (or groups of actions) are encouraged to let me know, and I'll update Column G with their name.
Thanks for distributing this information to the AEEC IPS participants.  BTW, I'm still in the process of updating the roadmap per your suggestions; I will send the IPS Roadmap file and the updated IPS Gap Analysis file in a separate e-mail.
